The first five years are a critical time for learning and development, with 92% of a child’s brain developing before age five. This is the window that shapes everything that follows.

Through the generous support of Deloitte and an anonymous donor, Thrive by Five helps early childhood settings across the Cayman Islands create language-rich environments where every child can build strong foundations for literacy and lifelong learning.
What we provide:
| COMPONENT | WHAT IT DELIVERS |
|---|---|
| Curated classroom libraries | Classrooms filled with books and language-rich learning materials |
| Professional development | Training and coaching for educators and caregivers |
| Developmental Supports | Vision and hearing screenings, along with language-rich practice support through community partners |
| Parent workshops | Building positive approaches to literacy at home |
Our work is strengthened through collaboration with valued community partners. Optical Outlook and Cayman Hearing Center provide vision and hearing screenings for children, helping to identify potential barriers to learning as early as possible. Speech Studio works alongside educators to model language expansion techniques that can be embedded into everyday interactions, supporting children’s communication and early language development.
We also partner with the Wellness Centre to offer the ZERO TO THREE®The Growing Brain training and with Chatterbox to deliver the Hanen®Learning Language and Loving It™programme, equipping educators and caregivers with practical, evidence-based strategies that foster responsive interactions and rich language environments.
We use warm, responsive approaches to explore language, sounds, letters, and print in developmentally appropriate ways, long before children begin formal reading instruction.
“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn.”
— Maria Montessori
