5 TIPS TO GET YOUR KIDS TO LOVE READING

1. Go beyond the book

Reading is all around us, and that means you can encourage your kids to read no matter where you are. Out to dinner? Have them read the menu. Running errands? Have them read price tags or family friendly magazine covers. Kids can even practice their reading while playing video games or helping out in the kitchen.

2. Set a specific time to read, and make it fun!

Much like dinnertime, create reading time! Make reading a routine part of your week, and make it fun! Act out stories, change scenes or create new characters and endings. Make story time engaging, and your kids will fall in love with reading in no time.>/p>

3. Read aloud, together

When you read aloud to your children, you lead by example. Children are fast learners, and they will pick up on how to read fluently.

4. Introduce a world of possibilities

Show your kids the excitement that comes with reading. Explore new worlds, save the day, travel to the moon, and introduce the emotion and creativity of learning.

5: Let them roam

When you visit a library or bookstore, let your kids free! Let them gravitate to the stories and books they are interested in reading. Keep their favourite books at home, too, so the excitement surrounds them!
